FCC Ownership Restrictions Tightened
New Reporting Requirements for Labs, TCBs, and Accreditation Bodies
The FCC has updated regulations to strengthen the integrity of equipment approvals for national security. Recognized laboratories, Telecommunication Certification Bodies (TCBs), and Accreditation Bodies must now certify they are not owned or controlled by prohibited entities and disclose any equity or voting interests of 5% or greater.

Reminder: Labs should prepare for the TAS validation and RSS-102 transition deadline on February 15, 2026 to maintain compliance.
TAS Validation and RSS-102 Transition Reminder
Laboratories conducting Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) testing must complete Test Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (TAS) validation under RSS-102 by February 15, 2026. This step is crucial to maintain compliance with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) requirements.
To assist in this process, ISED has published a list of approved TAS algorithms. Laboratories should ensure they are using these approved algorithms to meet the necessary standards. Learn More
