Webinar Description

The recent publication of the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) brings fundamental changes to the approval of devices for the European Union. This directive replaces the Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) Directive. The RED has been redrafted to align with the requirements of the New Legislative Framework (NLF).

Recent guidance explains the obligations of all economic operators in the supply chain, including manufacturers, test labs, Notified Bodies and other stakeholders.

About the Webinar

The goals of the new directive include improving the level of compliance with the “essential requirements,” increasing the confidence of all stakeholders in the regulatory framework and clarifying the Directive in order to facilitate its application.

Changes to the R&TTE Directive (1999/5/EC) include alignment with the NLF and other aspects identified as necessary to ensure the compliance and quality of radio equipment. Central to these new requirements are new accreditation requirements, clarification and changes to the roles of Notified Bodies, new requirements for test labs and manufacturers and the issuance of certificates.

Transition dates for compliance with the Directive have been set. In this webinar, we will highlight the most significant changes and revisions to the requirements, timelines for labs and manufacturers and the latest approach to applying the directive for compliance with the European CE Marking requirements for radio equipment.
