The Internet of Things (IoT) is forecast to be a $267 billion dollar market by 2020, according to Forbes. Virtually all of these IoT devices will have wireless connectivity to a network. For home or office use, Wi-Fi is the likely choice. However for any other IoT device not permanently located near a Wi-Fi Access Point, other wireless connectivity is needed. This seminar discusses those options. They basically fall into two categories: the licensed cellular band with a cell provider or the license-free band.  It’s a complicated landscape and we look into both these options in this Webinar

Michael Young was the Founder, President and Chief Technical Officer of YDI Wireless, a publicly traded company that designed and manufactured broadband wireless data communication equipment and systems. He designed and his company manufactured a complete range of wireless data communication products and accessories. YDI Wireless was a world leader in providing extended range, license-free wireless data equipment that included Wi-Fi as well as turnkey long-distance wireless systems for applications such as wireless Internet, wireless video, wireless LANs, WANs and MANs. He semi-retired in 2004 and started his own engineering company, Young Engineering Services, LLC. He also was Faculty Supervisor for the ECE Senior Engineering Design Capstone Program. He moved to Florida and is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Central Florida teaching for the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Departments. He is still offers engineering design services through his company.  As a side note, he is also a pilot and Certified Flight Instructor and enjoys flying his own plane, mostly doing dog rescue flights.

Registration Policy

  • If the registrant is unable to attend a particular session the recording and presentation will be provided.
  • If Washington Labs Academy cancels a particular event, we will apply payment to another webinar or refund the charge for that event.
  • Site license holders can list up to 10 different attendees (guests) for each registration. The name and email for each person that will sign-in is needed at least 1-business day prior to the event for us to establish sign-in privileges.
