BULLETIN JULY 2007
New EMC Directive to be fully in force
Effective July 20, 2007, the new EMC Directive (2004/108/EC) comes into force for all products that are covered by its scope. Henceforth, importers and distributors need to transition to the new Directive. The "Old" Directive expires on July 20, 2009; all products placed on the market after that MUST comply with 2004/108/EC. More here: http://www.wll.com/T&EIssue25.pdf. Call us to discuss what these changes mean to you.
Telecommunications Circuits Emissions Testing Mandatory
Equipment that falls under the EMC Directive require emissions (and immunity) testing. A longstanding issue has been the application of conducted emissions measurements to telecommunications ports. Effective August 1, 2007 all equipment that has previously been exempt, must comply with the emissions requirements. These requirements are conducted emissions AT the telecommunication interface. The testing can be an amendment to the existing approval. Call us to discuss if this affects your equipment.
