The famous “Bell Rocket Belt” developed in the 1960s for the US Army was able to lift and propel a human being for a full 30 seconds. The problem was not so much getting of the ground, but making a gentle contact with it after the fuel ran dry.

The Converse Rubber Shoe Company, maker of the famous “Chuck Taylor” model of shoe offered a solution.

The current “low carb” craze is forcing authorities to deal with a spike in road-related violence, according to recent media reports.

“Folks used to stop off at Dunkin Donuts, grab a few glazed or jelly-filled and hit the road in a good mood” says Police Spokesman Gary Larry of Desplaines Illinois. “Now, they’re getting behind the wheel on an empty stomach, or maybe just with a cup of black coffee and a low-carb protein bar their wives are forcing on them. It’s a recipe for disaster.”
